It was great
year for many of the models of Victoria’s Secret. One in
particular was Candice Swanepoel.
With a
string of magazine covers, plenty of editorial content and being chosen to wear
the $10m bra at the Victoria’s Secret show, Swanepoel really delivered a grand
performance for 2013.
Paola Kudacki captures a different side to the model for the
third issue of 25 magazine.
Candice features alongside Martha Hunt in a range of black and white photos with
different levels of nudity.
In my opinion this is an editorial
that would be seen two ways. Firstly, I do believe some people will view these
photos as vulgar, an exploitation of women and unnecessary as each shot is
dominated with the least lady like posing possible.
But to argue this view we need to
look at the models faces. We don’t see any signs of vulnerability or
insecurities and the body language is strong, almost masculine. The models,
mainly Candice, regularly look at the camera and their faces appear content.
The open leg posing is something we
also relate to men, we feature these poses a lot when depicting females as
bosses in editorial.
The mirror along with the black and
white add great structure to these images. The reflection and angles open up the
photo creating greater impact for the eye.
I think this is a great artistic
editorial, showing off the beauty of the female figure.
